A Great Stay in an Incredible Location
A Great Stay in an Incredible Location Pros: Many aspects of this hotel deserve 5 stars, while others feel closer to 4 stars, which makes it quite difficult to rate overall. First, the setting and views are exceptional. We had a sea-view room and waking up to that view every morning was incredible. If you’re booking, I’d strongly recommend requesting a room as high up as possible on the sea-facing side of the hotel. The service was another highlight. Several members of staff were genuinely fantastic and couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The poolside team in particular were excellent. Special mentions to Ruben and Andre, who were always welcoming, attentive, and helped make our stay more enjoyable. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice and excellent gluten-free options. My partner is gluten-free and vegetarian, and we were impressed to find a separate gluten-free station to minimise cross-contamination. The staff were also very accommodating and happy to help with dietary requirements. The main restaurant, The One, was a bit more mixed. While the service and flexibility were excellent, especially for my partner’s dietary needs, I felt the food itself was fairly average for the price. In contrast, the poolside food was very enjoyable, although it was on the expensive side. The room itself was lovely, with a comfortable large bed, a great view, and a modern bathroom with all the essentials. The only thing to note is that there is a shower but no bath. The main downside was that some of the smaller details didn’t quite match what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. On several occasions we had to ask for shower gel or toilet paper to be replenished, and the hotel only provides one bottle of water per day. For a hotel in this price bracket, unlimited bottled water would feel more appropriate. The TVs in the rooms were also disappointing. While this wasn’t a major issue, the ability to connect personal devices and stream content was limited and didn’t work as smoothly as expected. Improving this would make the in-room experience much better, especially for guests staying for a week or longer. One feature we really appreciated was the shuttle tuk-tuk service into the nearby village. It’s very convenient, and the village itself has some excellent restaurants, bars, and a beautiful beach. A standout experience during our stay was the hotel’s poolside movie night. We sat on picnic blankets under the stars, wearing wireless headphones while watching Titanic. It was a really unique and memorable touch that added something special to the holiday. Overall, this is a hotel with a stunning location, wonderful views, and some truly excellent staff. A few service and value-for-money issues stop it from being a full 5-star experience, but we still had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return.

Decent but not five stars
Decent but not five stars Pros: The location is beautiful, the pool area is relaxing and the complimentary shuttle tuk tuk is nice. Complimentary ice cream and donuts bring distributed when lounging around the hotel were a nice surprise. Cons: This did not really feel like a 5 star hotel to me. Communication could be improved, as the shuttle was not mentioned to me at check in until I asked if there was a shuttle, and then there was no info for where to meet the shuttle to return to the hotel. When I called to ask where to go for the return shuttle, I was not picked up and needed to wait an additional 30 minutes. Then the shuttle passed me and went further than the pickup spot to park, which may be why I wasn't picked up earlier. The AC in my room was broken and I had to have maintenance there several times and was eventually provided a freestanding fan. Lastly, I would not recommend the half board dining plan. Breakfast is good but for dinner, the menu and where you can dine is very limited compared to a la carte dining. It's a good value, but you feel a bit like a second class citizen, not welcome everywhere. I also apparently neglected to book for one guest rather than two, and I'm still waiting to hear back about being credited for the additional cost of half board for an extra person. Hopefully that will get resolved quickly with booking.com's assistance.
