Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 22 August 2026

1. Our commitment

HosPet.eu is a European project and we want travelling with a pet to be easy for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard only, magnification, or who need more time and less motion. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, and by the harmonised standard EN 301 549.

2. How we are doing

Partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA: most of the site meets the standard, and the exceptions in section 4 do not. This is a self-assessment carried out by our own team on 22 August 2026, by reviewing pages against the standard, testing with the keyboard, testing with JavaScript disabled and checking colour contrast.

  • Every page can be used with the keyboard alone, and the first tab stop skips straight to the main content.
  • Visible focus outlines on links, buttons and form fields.
  • Text and interface colours are checked against WCAG contrast ratios, and the body text scale was enlarged for easier reading.
  • Text resizes to 200% without breaking the layout; the navigation switches to a menu when text grows.
  • Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens.
  • Images carry alternative text, decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers, and photos that fail to load degrade to a labelled tile instead of a broken icon.
  • Forms use real labels, error messages in text, and never rely on colour alone.
  • Animations are subtle and honour the "reduce motion" setting of your system.
  • The site works with JavaScript blocked or disabled: content is rendered on the server, and scroll animations fall back to plain visible content.
  • Headings follow a logical order and each page has one main landmark.

3. Compatibility

The site is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile, together with the screen reader built into your system. It does not require JavaScript to read content, and it does not require a mouse.

4. Known limitations

Property photos from suppliers

Alternative text for supplier photos is generated from the property name, so it describes the subject only in general terms. We are working with our suppliers on richer descriptions.

Payment step

The final payment form is rendered by our payment provider inside its own frame, so parts of its accessibility are outside our control. If it blocks you, contact us and we will complete the booking with you directly.

Maps

Map views are visual. Every piece of information on a map is also available as text on the same page.

PDF and third-party content

Documents or widgets published by partners may not meet the same standard.

5. Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site blocks you, write to info@hospet.eu with the page address and what went wrong. We reply within 14 days and will give you the information or complete the action in another way in the meantime. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can contact the enforcement body for accessibility in your country of residence.

6. What comes next

Accessibility is part of every change we ship, not a one-off project. Our current priorities are better alternative text for supplier photos and an independent audit of the booking flow. Your privacy choices live on the privacy choices page, and they are reachable by keyboard from every page of the site.
