Cookie Policy

1. A European project, European rules
HosPet.eu is built and run in Europe for travellers in Europe. We handle cookies under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC as implemented in national law. In plain terms: cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for run without consent, and anything else runs only if you give consent freely, and only until you withdraw it.
2. What a cookie is here
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We also treat browser storage such as localStorage the same way, because EU law looks at what is stored on your device, not at the technical name.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working. They carry no advertising identifiers and are not shared with third parties for their own purposes. They cannot be switched off, because without them you cannot sign in or reach your booking.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Account session | Keeps you signed in after you log in. | Session |
| Booking access | Lets you open and manage a booking from your confirmation link. | A few hours |
| Property manager session | Keeps a property owner signed in to the manage area. | Session |
| hospet_cookie_consent_v1 | Remembers the choice you make in the cookie banner, so we stop asking. | 12 months |
| __cf_bm | Set by Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site, to tell real visitors from bots. Not used to profile you. | 30 minutes |
| _cfuvid | Set by Cloudflare so its rate limits apply per visitor rather than to everyone at once. | Session |
4. Optional cookies
Today we run no advertising cookies and nocross-site tracking. Choosing "Accept all" covers anonymous usage statistics that help us see which pages are useful. If we ever add an optional cookie beyond that, we will ask you again before it is set.
5. Third parties
Some pages load services that set their own cookies when you use them: Stripe on the payment step (fraud prevention, strictly necessary for the payment), LiteAPI for the booking flow, and GetYourGuide if you follow one of our activity links. Those services act under their own privacy notices once you land on them. Cloudflareprotects the site itself and sets the two security cookies listed above on every page.
6. Changing your choice
Accepting and refusing are equally easy, and refusing costs you nothing on this site. You can reopen the banner and change your answer whenever you like.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones will sign you out and may break the booking pages.
7. Contact
